Is a fast heart rate during surgery a problem?

Post by jamesscot84 on Thu Mar 17, 2011 6:09 pm

I have a research paper that discusses the problems with Civil War medicine. I have come upon the topic of "surgical shock" or shock related to mishaps on the battlefield. During this period of shock, surgeons would operate when the heart rate was at its highest. Would this cause a problem, such as excessive hemorrhaging due to the high heart rate
